Enterprise Northern Ireland's 'Enterprise Manifesto' was developed as a means of asking, in advance of the Assembly elections , for all political parties to work in partnership with Enterprise Northern Ireland to realise the potential of the microenterprise and small business sectors, and to demonstrate their commitment to these sectors in party political manifestos and election pledges.
Despite being a prerequisite for delivering economic development and growth, entrepreneurship and enterprise have continued to slip down the Northern Ireland Executive’s agenda. With the Enterprise Manifesto, Enterprise Northern Ireland is calling upon incoming Assembly Members and the next Executive to focus on growing the private sector by prioritising sustainable business formation and job creation through the SME sector – the backbone of the economy. As well as asking for enterprise to be put at the heart of the Department for the Economy, there a number of other ‘key asks’ of the Enterprise Manifesto:
The Enterprise Manifesto reinforces Enterprise Northern Ireland's experience, expertise and track record to work with the incoming Executive to make the region’s business environment conducive to job creation and increased levels of entrepreneurial activity through a focus on the indigenous microenterprise and SME sector.
The Enterprise Manifesto calls upon the next Executive and all incoming Assembly Members to work collaboratively with Enterprise Northern Ireland and the LEAs to set the small business policy agenda for the future, to help transform the business environment for the thousands of small businesses who seek our support annually and to work with us for a more prosperous society through the development and growth of the small business sector.
