Exploring Enterprise Programme (EEP) is a free programme which provides an insight into starting a business or allows you to take the first steps to gaining employment.
You do not need to have a business idea to join.
The programme offers mentoring and training at a pace tailored to your needs and you have the opportunity to work towards achieving a CCEA Level 1 Qualification in Understanding Business Enterprise.
You will be provided with one to one mentoring with an experienced business advisor in areas such as:
• Financial Planning
• Introduction to HMRC
• Job searching/assisting in writing of job applications
• CV design / development
• Searching for further education courses or other relevant training
To be eligible for this programme you must be:
• Aged 16 or over
• Legally able to reside and work in the UK
• Unemployed/inactive or working/studying less than 16 hours per week; and
• Not participating in any other government funded programme

His Story Having been in an accident previously and as a result, becoming an amputee, I had been out of work for a while. During this time I started to help a friend with his books and decided that I would like to do my book keeping qualifications and start up my own business. So, I completed SAGE Level 1-3 but was not sure if the direction I was going in was the right direction.
Ruth always dreamed of setting up her own children’s nursery and had been volunteering for Ballyclare Family Focus at the time and seen a real need for this so that was the start of her journey. Her heart was telling her what she needed to do but her head was telling her that she had no business skills and did not know anything about starting a business. This is where Exploring Enterprise intervened
Marcella had been teaching and living in South Korea and due to a marriage breakdown found herself back home as a single mum on benefits. She wanted to do something that would build her confidence, allow her to be around people again as she was very feeling isolated and lonely. She turned to Exploring Enterprise and has set up her own business as a result
At 24 years of age Matthew had left University with a degree in Art and had been working part time in Asda for 5 years to gather up some money to start his own business but was just not sure what direction to go in and how to go about it. The Exploring Enterprise programme
When Iris reached a stage in her life where she had decided to leave her employment as at the time she had a family friend who was sick and in hospital. After 2 years had passed she felt that her confidence was dropping, she had lost her sense of fulfilment and although she wanted to return to work, she did not think she had the necessary qualifications to get back into the job that she had previously been in.
Catherine had taken a career break to explore her options and to look after her family. She felt that she needed something for her and considered starting up her own business but was not sure what type of business or how to go about it.
