Back to the library in Carrickfergus

On Friday 9 November participants on the current Exploring Enterprise Programme joined with staff from Carrickfergus Enterprise to visit Carrickfergus library.

The information session was arranged by Carrickfergus Enterprise to enable participants to find out about which resources could help them best with their research into starting a business.

Jillian McFrederick, Branch Library Manager at Carrickfergus Library pointed out, “We invited our colleague Gary Patterson from the business library based in Central Library, Belfast. Gary shared his expertise and helped the group to navigate through how to get the best use out of Mintel, Cobra, the Intellectual Property Office and Access to Research. Everyone seemed impressed with what we can offer library members.”

Alan Hamilton, Business Support Officer, “The group had just completed CCEA Level 1 Qualification in Understanding Business Enterprise. This was a good opportunity to build on the learning before we progress to the next sessions covering marketing, operations and finance. “

One of the course participants David Alexander, commented, “I enjoyed seeing what was on offer and was really surprised by the wealth of free resources available. I will definitely be back to complete research for my business idea and its great that I can access them all from my local library which is on my doorstep.”

Participants are off on another work study visit later in the course to hear first hand from a local business owner in Carrickfergus about his business journey.
